Knights in the Community
At Knight’s Action Park our roots in Central Illinois run deep. For generations, the Knight family has been all about making lasting memories for local families, both inside our park gates and across our Springfield community. We usually let the fun speak for itself and never really take time to brag on our community efforts, but we are genuinely proud of the work happening behind the scenes. From cheering on classroom bookworms to partnering with civic and charitable causes, we love pouring right back into the people and organizations that make our region thrive.
Community Programs and Partnerships
Community Tuesdays
Launched in our 2026 season, Community Tuesdays offers a great way to save on admission while directly supporting vital local non profits.
- On Tuesdays throughout the Summer, bring an onsite donation directly to our featured non profit booth near the entrance to unlock a special discounted admission ticket for the day.
- Every dollar collected goes straight to our featured community partners, fueling local animal shelters, youth programs, and family service organizations across Springfield without ever passing through our hands.
- Check our seasonal operating calendar each spring to see featured partners and scheduled dates.
Knights Action Park Reading Program
We are passionate about inspiring young readers across local classrooms.
- Participating elementary classrooms (Grades 1 through 3) track reading milestones through dedicated reading logs provided through Knights Action Park.
- Students who complete their grade level reading goals receive a Single Day Splash Kingdom Pass.
- Teachers and administrators can register their school or classroom to receive digital logs, and our team drops distribution materials off directly to the school after completion of the program.
Kids Heart Challenge with American Heart Association
We team up with the American Heart Association to keep young hearts pumping and healthy. Each year, Knight’s donates 5,000 day passes to local elementary schools taking part in the Kids Heart Challenge, so students can learn heart healthy habits, raise funds, and celebrate with a huge splash on us come summertime.
Annual Community Blood Drive
Every summer, Knight’s Action Park hosts our annual community blood drive in partnership with local blood collection centers to support regional hospitals. As a thank you for rolling up your sleeve and saving lives, every registered donor receives a complimentary Single Day Splash Kingdom Pass. Drive dates and appointment booking links are announced each spring across our website and social channels.
4th of July Fireworks: A Springfield Tradition Since 1994
When Springfield’s beloved LincolnFest came to an end in 1993, our city lost its signature downtown fireworks celebration. In 1994, we decided our community shouldn't have to go without one, so we stepped up, started putting on our own show, and we’ve been happily burning money on fireworks ever since!
Fishing Has No Boundaries
We believe the outdoors and recreational fun should be accessible to everyone. Knight’s Action Park proudly partners with and supports the Central Illinois chapter of Fishing Has No Boundaries, an organization dedicated to providing individuals with disabilities the opportunity to experience the freedom and joy of fishing.
Lifeguard Support for the Lake Springfield Triathlon
Safety and water rescue are at the core of what our aquatic team does every day. Each summer, Knight’s Action Park proudly partners with the Lake Springfield Triathlon, deploying our top certified park lifeguards to provide open water safety monitoring, paddleboard spotting, and emergency water coverage for competing athletes.
The Fat Ass 5K
Knight’s Action Park is a proud annual sponsor and participant in Springfield’s signature Fat Ass 5K, celebrating fitness, fun, and philanthropic support for local charities. Look out for our crew along the course and at celebration stops throughout the event!
Supporting Local Tourism
Knight’s Action Park is an active partner in showcasing Springfield and Central Illinois as premier family friendly destinations. We work hand in hand with regional tourism bureaus, historic Route 66 associations, and local hospitality networks to drive economic impact, welcome out of town visitors, and celebrate the unique heritage of our community.
Parades and The Knights Pirate Ship
You have likely spotted our signature Knight’s Pirate Ship float navigating the streets of Springfield! We love joining the community for annual traditions, including:
- Springfield St. Patrick’s Day Parade
- Illinois State Fair Twilight Parade
- Local Homecoming Celebrations and Community Festivals
Book the Pirate Ship for Your Event: Interested in featuring the Knight’s Pirate Ship float in your upcoming parade, civic celebration, or community festival?
